Downs step in hard for Appollis

KickOff has learned that Mamelodi Sundowns have stepped up their interest and are pushing hard to secure the services of Polokwane City and Bafana Bafana winger Oswin Appollis.

It's public knowledge that the highly-rated player is on the wanted list of Kaizer Chiefs, who are believed to be keen on bringing him to Naturena before the transfer window deadline on Friday.

The club's Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr., confirmed as much in a recent radio interview.

Their old foes Orlando Pirates were also reportedly interested in securing the pint-sized star's signature.

However, according to sources within the club, the MTN8 finalists are not keen.

The Brazilians are now understood to be flexing their financial muscle and making frantic efforts to lure Appollis in time before the transfer window slams shut at midnight on Friday.

"Sundowns are now very much in the picture. They might pull one of their biggest signings before Friday," said a source.

Appollis missed his side's Betway Premiership opener against AmaZulu at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, which fueled speculation about his future at Rise and Shine.
