New coach impressed with Njabulo Ngcobo

Sekhukhune United coach Lehlohonolo Seema has provided his verdict on newly-signed defender Njabulo Ngcobo, who has joined after having a hard time getting into the starting XI at Kaizer Chiefs.

Babina Noko got their domestic season on the right footing with a hard-fought 1-0 win over newly-promoted Magesi.

The match was also Seema's first competitive game in charge after rejoining the club shortly before the start of the campaign.

The Lesotho coach got his first look at some of the club's new signings in a competitive fixture, and among them was former Amakhosi man and 2021 PSL Defender of the Season Ngcobo.

Speaking to media after the match, the head coach said he was left impressed by the effort put in by 'Roadblock'.

"I think everybody knows that he was a Defender of the Season at some stage. So, we knew that when we got him, we have got a quality defender," Seema told journalists at the press conference.

"But, I must say that his partnership with [Sikhisonke] Langa, they worked very hard. It was very dangerous, as Magesi was dangerous.

"As you can see, Rhulani Manzini is ageing like a fine wine and worked very hard. When he got out, we thought, okay, we will get better.

"But [Gift] Motupa came through as coach Clinton Larsen wanted him there, tried him with his experience, and it's working for them."

"So, I'm happy to have him [Ngcobo]. He's working hard. That's one good thing when you have a good player who puts in good effort during training and the games. So, that is a plus for the team to have him," he added.

Ngcobo was an unused substitute during the side's 2-1 win over Angolan outfit Lunda Sul in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round. Despite the result, which meant a 2-2 aggregate score, Babina Noko were kicked out of the competition on the away goal rule.

They hots Chippa United on Wednesday, with kick-off at 19:30.
