Legendary Teboho Moloi, who lives, eats and breathes Orlando Pirates, with his father also having played for the club, has challenged the current crop of players to take heed of a comment recently made by head coach Jose Riveiro.
Moloi was a fan-favourite of his generation, having represented Ezimnyama Ngenkani between 1987 and 1997, winning countless trophies along the way.
Following his retirement from the game, having also been on the books of Turkish Super Lig outfit Gaziantepspor and Once Caldas of Colombia, the ex-midfielder has gone on to serve the club as assistant coach to the likes of Augusto Palacios and Roger De Sa.
Son to the late legendary Percy 'Chippa' Moloi, the man affectionately known as 'Mashwabane' during his playing days has also previously had a stint as Chippa United caretaker coach and is known as a proponent of South African football with all its thrills and spills.
He has reacted to Pirates' progression into the group stage of the CAF Champions League after beating Botswana's Jwaneng Galaxy 3-0 on aggregate in the second preliminary round.
"It's a big milestone for these boys, to realise how important it is to play in the CAF Champions League," Moloi says, in an interview with KickOff.

"Jose Riveiro said something very profound when he said it takes a special man to coach Orlando Pirates, and that he is grateful to be given the chance to coach a team as big as this.
"So, these boys should ask themselves why are they the ones chosen to wear the Pirates jersey? It's about time they understand they are a special breed, they are the chosen ones.
"It's been how many years since we [last] qualified for the group stage? This should give them confidence [to say] they can go all the way," he continues.
Moloi says following the heartbreaking loss to Egyptian giants Al Ahly in the final of the 2013 edition, he began dreaming of an all-South African Champions League final.
"It has never happened where two SADC teams faced each other in a CAF Champions League final. This is the time for the Pirates youngsters to believe in themselves, to believe they are the chosen ones.
"I'm not pushing for the impossible. This is a possibility. I mean, who [would have] thought of Thalente Mbatha scoring two goals in successive matches for Bafana Bafana?
"It's about time, as South Africans, we appreciate our boys. It's about time we give them what we were given when we were young.

"I played for Orlando Pirates at the age of 18, I got all the support, and now it's time we give the likes of [Patrick] 'Tito' Maswanganyi, Relebohile Mofokeng, Deon Hotto and Mbatha similar support.
"So, what Riveiro said should be rubbing off on the players. If their coach feels he is special, then they should feel the same."
The draw for the group stage takes place on 7 October in Egypt.
