Mamelodi Sundowns handed Kaizer Chiefs their first defeat of the Betway Premiership after claiming a 2-1 win on Saturday afternoon.
Edson Castillo received his first start of the campaign for the Amakhosi and replaced Njabulo Blom from Wednesday's win over AmaZulu, while Themba Zwane was restored by Masandawana ahead of Aubrey Modiba.
The revived Glamour Boys sent the spectators in to raptures on nine minutes when Ranga Chivaviro beat Mosa Lebusa to go level with Ronwen Williams following Reeve Frosler's through pass and finished easily.
Sundowns got a perfect chance to even matters through a low first-time effort by Iqraam Rayners after a cutback from Tashreeq Matthews, but it fizzled wide of the far corner.
However, the reigning champions were level on the half-hour mark when a half-clearance led Matthews to take hold and released Lucas Ribeiro to power in the top corner from the far side.
The Amakhosi's high-line approach back-fired eight minutes later after a switch of play found Ribeiro, who then played a first-time ball across the face of goal for Rayners to tap in.
Chiefs had a glaring chance to draw level just past the interval, with a first-time chance from a ball in-behind by Chivaviro but he unfortunately fired high and wide of target.
Another golden opportunity were presented to the host through Castillo's powerful header in the area from a ball in, but Williams produced a remarkable save.
Substitutions for Chiefs during the midway mark of the second stanza saw Mfundo Vilakazi come in for Mduduzi Shabalala before Ashley Du Preez replaced Wandile Duba.
Du Preez nearly had an inspired entry with a potent effort from inside the box following a scramble in the heart of defence, but it was cleared from the goal-line.
As the minutes ticked, Williams pulled a dramatic one-hand save to deny Castillo levelling from a diving header with the title holders on a knife-edge.
There were late drama when the Amakhosi had the ball in the net in the dying minutes, but it was disallowed for a foul as Sundowns held on for the victory.
