South African Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie has urged everyone to get behind Ronwen Williams as he aims to win a phenomenal individual trophy.
Earlier this year, the shot-stopper had been nominated for the prestigious Yachine Trophy, an individual honour that recognises the best goalkeeper in the world.

This comes after a splendid 2023/24 campaign with Mamelodi Sundowns and a memorable 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament that saw him shine and stand out as one of the best on the continent.
Now, the goalkeeper is vying to be recognised as the best in the world, with the winner of the Yachine Trophy set to be announced at the 2024 Ballon d'Or awards later this month.
The Bafana Bafana star is up against some of the biggest goalkeeping names in world football.
The list includes Diogo Costa, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Andriy Lunin, and Emiliano Martínez among others.
Given the tight competition, and that the players in contention represent major clubs with large following, McKenzie urged South Africans to vote for the Downs star.
"Let's continue to vote," the Minister wrote on Twitter.

Williams is the first goalkeeper to be nominated for the Yacine Trophy award while playing for an African club.
It must be said that the award is still decided by former Ballon d'Or winners.
He had 35 clean sheets in 59 games across all competitions in 2023/2024, and was named the Best Goalkeeper at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations after helping Bafana Bafana reach the semi-final, keeping four clean sheets on their way.
