Royal AM: From skating on thin ice to just ice-skating!

Following their elimination from the Carling Knockout Cup at the hands of Cape Town City, Royal AM owner Shauwn Mkhize has seemingly taken took some of players out for some fun ice-skating. Here's a look!

The story

Royal AM continued their barren run in front of goal, as the club have now failed to score in four consecutive games this season.

On Saturday, they were beaten 3-0 by Cape Town City at the Athlone Stadium in a round of 16 clash of the Carling Knockout Cup.

It is perhaps for this reason that the KwaZulu-Natal outfit needed some team-building session to the players' spirits up.

The owner, Mamkhize, looks to have taken a group of stars to go ice-skating, which isn't your typical activity to get the players gelling again.

It remains unconfirmed if the players went skating went before their clash with the Citizens or after but the images were shared on social media on Monday.

On the pitch, the club are yet to win a single game this season, as they have drawn all four of their games in the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season.

Moreover, they have only scored once this term but they find themselves in a comfortable spot on the table, sitting ninth.

Meanwhile, head coach John Maduka recently revealed his concerns about the fact that the club's reserve side have been dumped out of the Multichoice Diski Challenge

"You are right because match fitness is very, very important so now it's unfortunate that we can't take part on the DDC team. So, we'll rely on friendlies and friendlies most of the time you know you don't find the opponents that you need," Maduka said, according to SABC Sport.

"It's not really competitive like a league game like this, it becomes very difficult then what do you do? You bring those players and you try them on a cup game like this and you are out of the competition.

"It's a risk, so it's not good but that's how the situation is, there's nothing that we can do. We have to find a way or we keep on what we've been trying to do, find friendlies, so that these players you know have game time."
