Maswanganyi hails fighting spirit inside Bucs camp

Orlando Pirates fan-favourite Patrick Maswanganyi has applauded his teammates for a never-say-die attitude as the side bounced back from a damaging defeat against Magesi FC in the Carling Knockout to whip SuperSport United in the league.

The Buccaneers maintained their perfect start to the Betway Premiership campaign with a 2-0 win over SuperSport at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday, courtesy of goals from Evidence Makgopa and Deon Hotto.

Consequentially, the league table reads four matches played, four won next to the Soweto giants' name.

Their latest victory was also of particular importance as Pirates had had to deal with the shock of a 3-2 defeat to unfancied Magesi FC last Saturday, in an encounter where they were expected to walk all over their opponents.

Speaking to the club's media after Tuesday's match, Maswanganyi expressed delight with the response from the team.

"It was a good response, especially coming from a loss at home, getting knocked out of the cup," shared the dribbling wizard.

"We came here to improve and also make sure that we get the points. Playing at home, we had to make sure that we won the game. It was a tough game, but we are very happy with the three points.

"I think our attitude has been [good]. Since we started [the season], we've been playing very well. I think we were unfortunate in the last game. We managed to come to this game and make sure that we got an early goal.

"We managed to do that and we managed to get a goal in the dying minutes. So, we are very happy with the points."

Pirates will hope for more of the same when they take on AmaZulu FC on Friday night.
