Al Ahly chief reveals latest stance on new Tau contract

Al Ahly sporting director Mohamed Ramadan has revealed the club's latest stance on renewing Percy Tau's contract.

The South African's deal with the Egyptian giants is set to expire at the end of the current season, and the uncertainty surrounding his future has led to much speculation.

During the latest transfer window, the attacker was linked with various clubs in the Middle East and Europe, as well as other African sides.

However, Ramadan has now alluded to negotiations over a new deal between the two parties commencing once again.

"We have not spoken to the player about his fate yet, due to the Super Cup matches and the Al Ain match," the sporting director said on Egyptian TV, per Ngm Algmahir.

"We will speak with the players about renewing after the Al Ain match, and currently we are only focusing on the match."

Reports had initially suggested that the player had fallen out with manager Marcel Koller after the Swiss tactician agreed to put up him up for sale.

Red Devils CEO Amir Tawfik came out to deny that this was the case, saying "Koller is convinced of Percy Tau technically" and that "everything that is said is just talk".

The Egyptian Premier League giants are preparing to take on United Arab Emirates side Al Ain in a FIFA Club World Cup second-round encounter scheduled for Tuesday night.

Tau, meanwhile, has made five appearances for his side across all competitions so far this season, contributing with two goals.
