'Tau is clearly living his last days at Al Ahly'

Former Al Ahly star Alaa Mayhoob has weighed in on Percy Tau's future, hinting that the South African attacker's days at the Egyptian giants are numbered.

With his contract set to expire at the end of the current season, the South African's future at the Egyptian giants is a topic engulfed by speculation.

The 29-year-old was heavily linked to several clubs during the latest transfer window, including African, Middle Eastern, and European sides, with Zamalek emerging as a potential suitor.

Egyptian journalist Ahmed Shobair recently predicted that this will be Tau's last year at the Club of the Century, suggesting that the club would not object to his departure.

Now, former player Mayhoob has also joined in on the discussions, and appears to be of the same opinion.

"Percy Tau is clearly living his last days at Al Ahly. The player is always injured, and coach Marcel Koller doesn't count on him," the retired player revealed on MBC Egypt per Akhbarak

Mihoub attributed Tau's benching to his recent subpar performances, citing Taher Mohamed Taher, Koller's assistant, as aware of the situation.

"Taher knows that Tau's benching is due to his subpar performances in recent games," Mayhoob explained.

Despite his struggles, Mihoub believes Tau remains a valuable asset.

"Percy Tau is a distinct player with great abilities, beneficial to any club he joins, even if it's Zamalek," he added.

The Red Devils recently kicked off their Egyptian Premier League campaign, but the former Mamelodi Sundowns star started on the bench.

He did, however, make an appearance in the 80th minute to help see out his side's 5-2 victory over Fagrie Lakay's Ceramica Cleopatra FC.
