Barca 'identify' African star as Lewandowski replacement

FC Barcelona have reportedly identified a certain African star as a long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski.

Lewandowski has made a superb start to the 2024/25 season, having already netted an impressive 19 goals in 17 appearances under Hansi Flick.

The Polish striker's current deal expires at the end of next season but he is likely to get a one-year extension after his impressive form this term.

However, that hasn't stopped Barcelona from searching for a long-term successor in the meantime as Mundo Deportivo claim Eintracht Frankfurt's Omar Marmoush has been identified as a potential target.

The Egyptian forward has registered 13 goals and 10 assists for the Bundesliga outfit this season.

German publication BILD have reported that any team looking to sign Marmoush will have to pay Frankfurt €45million.

Reports also claim that Bayern Munich and Liverpool are also keen on the 25-year-old forward, who sits level with Harry Kane at the top of the Bundesliga scoring charts.

Barcelona sporting director Deco recently spoke about Lewandowski and claim there aren't that many top strikers available.

"I think it's very difficult to find a striker like Robert today. There are one or two of this level. Maybe Haaland or someone else," Deco told Mundo Deportivo.

"There are not so many of this level available. But we're not going to be obsessed with looking for any strikers now because we're going to focus first on what Robert can do.

"I surely think he's happy to be here. He's a winner and if we have an important season I think he'll want to continue."
