France registered a 3-1 victory over Italy and clinched top spot in their UEFA Nations League group on Sunday evening.
Azzurri recalled goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario in place of Gianluigi Donnarumma, with Manuel Locatelli was back in too, while Marcus Thuram, William Saliba, Christopher Nkunku and Adrien Rabiot picked out some of the changes made by Les Bleus.
The latter hit the ground running in the second minute after a corner from Lucas Digne met Rabiot who nodded in emphatically.
Italy were fired up thereafter and surged forward relentlessly in pursuit of a quick comeback, but battled to bypass the block set out by the visitors at the back.
No shortage of goal-mouth activity showed on the side of the host, who threatened to go level when Giovanni Di Lorenzo headed a free-kick from Federico Di Marco narrowly wide.
Les Bleus added another three minutes past the half-hour mark after a powerful free-kick from Digne ricochet off Vicario and rolled into the net.
Italy weren't out it though but found reprieve minutes later when an inter-change of passes far wide saw Di Marco cut inside to cross for Andrea Cambiaso to finish first-time.
The Azzurri remained confident after halftime and saw Di Marco launch a shot from a clever distance, but Mike Maignan parried comfortably.
However, the momentum shifted in no less than a minute as Nkunku grabbed possession high up and attempted a smart finish only to have Vicario on hand for the save.
Les Bleus pulled further clear midway into the resumption when Rabiot again combined with a delivery from Digne to head in to complete his brace.
Substitutions for the Azzurri thereafter had Moise Kean, Giacomo Raspadori and Nicolo Rovella introduced by manager Luciano Spalletti.
Although, the damage was long done as the Les Bleus managed to hold ground in the final stages and registered the victory.
