Rodri responds to links with Real Madrid

Manchester City star Rodri has made some surprise remarks after being linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Rodri recently picked up the 2024 Ballon d'Or award ahead of Real Madrid duo Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham, who finished second and third respectively.

Following his Ballon d'Or triumph, the Man City star was the report subject of interest from Los Blancos despite his previous allegiance to cross-town rivals Atletico Madrid.

However, the Spaniard claims it is an honour to be linked with the reigning UEFA Champions League holders.

"I have two years left on my contract, the time is approaching to sit down and speak again," Rodri told Cadena Ser.

"It's clear that [Guardiola's contract extension] is an important incentive. I feel very valued at the club. For the time being, I'm very happy."

"Obviously when Madrid, the best and most successful club in history, calls you, it is an honour.

"You always have to pay attention. But obviously of course not. I don't look too far ahead but it's a possibility that I could perfectly end my career in England."
