Struggling Man City embarrassed by Spurs

Manchester City suffered a fifth consecutive loss across all competitions after going down 4-0 to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday night.

Mateo Kovacic's long-term injury headlined the Cityzens eleven, but Jack Grealish returned before the visitors saw James Maddison, Ben Davies and Yves Bissouma complete their three changes.

Maddison proved decisive a little over ten minutes played after making a late run in the box to meet Dejan Kulusevski's cross to fire in the bottom-corner.

Spurs were keen to add another in a dominant opening when Heung Min-Son pushed a few yards towards the area for a stumping strike which caught Ederson Moraes at full stretch.

Maddison wreaked further havoc as the England international sneaked in-behind to combine a through pass from Son and finished smartly.

It was pretty one-sided at this point, with Spurs seeing a lot of the momentum particularly in forward areas and had the reigning champions in sixes and sevens.

The Cityzens provided a change at halftime in Nathan Ake in place of John Stones, while the visitors rolled out no alterations.

No joy showed the title holders way five minutes from the break and conceded a third when marauding fullback Pedro Porro met Dominic Solanke's layoff to slam in the net.

City managed to get into a bit of rhythm a while later and saw Erling Haaland turn from the right of the box after meeting possession off Bissouma only to rattle the crossbar.

More moments arrived moments when Gundogan played a first-time pass in space for Kevin De Bruyne to take aim from a tight angle, but Guglielmo Vicario drew a firm grip.

There were to come from the visitors who made it four in added time when a powerful forward run from Timo Werner resulted in a layoff for Brennan Johnson to finish and concluded the match.
