Following Kylian Mbappe's subdued performance in Real Madrid's 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League, Carlo Ancelotti has shared his thoughts on the French star's struggles.
The highly anticipated clash at Anfield saw Los Blancos falter as goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo secured a convincing victory for the hosts, extending their perfect run in the league stage.

Mbappe, who had a chance to bring his side back to level terms, missed a crucial penalty just after the hour mark, with Liverpool's goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher denying him from the spot.
Speaking after the game, Ancelotti acknowledged the difficult period the 25-year-old is experiencing but stressed the importance of patience and support to help the forward regain his confidence.
"It has happened many times that forwards have a hard time scoring. There is a medicine, which is to be patient," the Italian coach said, per the Daily Mail.
"It is a difficult moment for him, especially after missing the penalty. Everyone has to support him."
Ancelotti also highlighted the psychological aspect of Mbappe's struggles.
"He may be a bit lacking in confidence. When things don't go your way, the idea you have to have is to play simple," he added.
The Real boss then emphasised the importance of backing Mbappe through this rough patch, saying:
"It's a bit like this moment, but you can't judge him for missing a penalty. All players miss penalties.
"He has to keep working well. We have to be patient because he's an extraordinary player."
Ancelotti finally noted Mbappe's effort and commitment during the match, despite his lack of sharpness in front of goal.
"Like the others, he fought, he competed, he didn't get many shots right, he missed the penalty, and it's going to be a difficult moment, but he has the support of everyone," he insisted.
"Missing a penalty in a game like that, the player is a little disappointed, but he has to look forward."
