Worse or better? Chiefs’ quarter season report card!

If Nasreddine Nabi's reign at Kaizer Chiefs will have him judged based on results, then he still has a mountain to climb to turn all the red into green on his marks board.

Chiefs played game number 10 of the season under Nabi on Sunday afternoon, which ended in a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Polokwane City.

With that result, they dropped to the bottom half of the standings, which is always worrying for a club expected to be always near the top in the league regardless of the circumstances.

However, as it stands, Amakhosi already sit 10 points behind their biggest rivals Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, who both have 21 points having all played eight in the Betway Premiership.

The reality is that this could turn into another empty campaign for Chiefs as has been the case since their last trophy triumph back in May 2015.

For all the jubilation that came with the arrival of Nabi during pre-season and the subsequent investments made, the results board shows that the Naturena-based side have only moved with the pace of a tortoise from last season with four wins, four defeats, and two draws.

The wins have come against Marumo Gallants, AmaZulu FC, SuperSport United, and Richards Bay FC.

Amakhosi have leaked 16 and scored 16 in those 10 games in all competitions, leaving them with a goal difference of zero.

How different is this compared to last season when they had another new man in charge?

After 10 games in all competitions last season, Chiefs had won thrice, lost four, and drawn three under Molefi Ntseki, who had been handed the job during the pre-season as replacement for Arthur Zwane.

The wins had come against Cape Town City, AmaZulu, and Stellenbosch FC.

Chiefs had scored 10 and conceded eight.

Just like he had not been a popular appointment when he was surprisingly given the job, Ntseki couldn't convince Amakhosi otherwise and one win and two defeats later he was sacked.

Though he had called the shots for Bafana Bafana, Ntseki had never been a head coach of a top league club before prior to the Chiefs job.
