Chiefs left naked minus Sirino…

The influence of Gaston Sirino on the pitch when switched on without doubt sets him up as an important factor in Kaizer Chiefs' attacking systems.

This is proven by his numbers in the crucial department of goals, assists, and intelligence in his ability to provide penetrative passes when the team steps on the accelerator.

So, with all the disturbing allegations that have created a picture of friction between him and Nasreddine Nabi, it leaves questions hanging on what would become of Chiefs without him.

Prior to the alleged issues surfacing during the FIFA break, Sirino had six goal contributions in seven games.

It was broken down to two goals and four assists.

Beyond that, his chances creation for his teammates was the highest.

The 33-year-old had an assist in the 2-1 win over Marumo Gallants and without his contribution that game could have ended in a draw.

In the 3-1 win away at AmaZulu FC, it was a goal and an assist from the Uruguayan-South African and minus his efforts that might as well have turned out into a stalemate.

Then in the 4-0 victory over SuperSport United, he had another goal and assist.

The 2-2 draw against Magesi FC came with an assist from Sirino after he came on from the bench and taking away his influence there was a possibility of all three points being dropped.

Based on what he has done in terms of goals and assists, Amakhosi could have possibly been minus five points and down in the relegation zone without the former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder.

Since the last FIFA break when the allegations came up, Sirino was kept on the bench for 90 minutes for the first time against Richards Bay FC and has since not scored or provided an assist in the two games that he has played since then.

Chiefs are also without a win in those games having drawn against Royal AM and lost to Polokwane City.

Sirino arrived at Naturena having won 13 trophies during the six-and-a-half years that he spent at Sundowns, which included seven league titles.

Whatever the issues, they need to be resolved as Chiefs are better off with Sirino switched on.
