Pogba set to reunite with ex-Man United teammate?

With Paul Pogba nearing a return to football following a lengthy doping suspension, he has received an intriguing offer that could see him reunite with a former Manchester United teammate.

Pogba, who tested positive for a banned substance in August 2023, initially faced a four-year suspension, which was recently reduced to 18 months.

Following his contract termination with Juventus, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is now searching for a new club. He will be eligible to resume training in January 2025 and can fully return to action in March.

Among the options reportedly available to the 31-year-old, Olympique Marseille has emerged as a potential destination, with former Juventus and France teammate Adrien Rabiot publicly expressing his desire for a reunion.

"Of course, I would love to play with Paul," Rabiot told DAZN, as cited by the Manchester Evening News.

"We spent some time together at Juventus, but we didn't really get to share the pitch. He's more than welcome to join."

Rabiot, who joined Marseille as a free agent earlier this year, highlighted the club's ambition and professional atmosphere as compelling reasons for Pogba to consider the move.

"We're putting together something important [at Marseille]. There's a real dynamic, it's very professional from the players to the coach and the management, and there's real ambition," he added.

Pogba is also linked to a potential return to Manchester United, with former Red Devils forward Louis Saha suggesting that the midfielder could provide a crucial missing element to the current squad.

At Marseille, the Frenchman would not only reunite with Rabiot but also with Mason Greenwood, another former United teammate. Greenwood joined the Ligue 1 side earlier this season and has been a revelation at the Orange Velodrome.

The 22-year-old has tallied 10 goals and two assists, playing a key role in propelling Les Olympiens to second place in the league table, just four points behind Paris Saint-Germain after 14 matches.

During their shared tenure at Manchester United, Pogba and Greenwood featured alongside each other on 71 occasions, building a rapport that could reignite if Pogba opts for a move to Marseille.
