Richards Bay ended a five-game losing streak in the Betway Premiership after a late 1-0 win over Golden Arrows on Saturday afternoon.
Arrows made two changes following their win over Cape Town City, as Brandon Theron and Nhlanhla Zwane were recalled.
Richards Bay also made two alternations their loss against SuperSportUnited, as they were boosted by the return of Somila Ntsundwana from suspension and gave Thabiso Kutumela a rare start.
The game got off to a cagey start as both sides had half chances inside the box but they did not have finishing touches.
It took until midway into the first stanza for a first shot in anger, as Lindokuhle Zikhali fancied his chance for The Natal Rich Boyz with a strike from range that sailed over the crossbar.
Richards Bay had a better opportunities ten minutes before the interval after Yamela Mbuthuma was supposed to head home from close-range but his effort dragged wide.
The Natal Rich Boyz continued to show more hunger from the interval and just before the hour-mark, Thulani Gumede was unfortunate not to break the deadlock with a strike that beat goalkeeper Edward Maova but cleared off the line by an Arrows player.
Abafana Bes'thende got a wake-up call and nearly went ahead moments later after Nqobeko Dlamini was denied by the post with a curled shot in the box.
Richards Bay continued to pressurize Arrows with 15 minutes to go, as Siboniso Conco replaced Thulani Gumede to reinforce their attack.
Just a moment later, Lindokuhle Zikhali eventually broke the deadlock for Ronnie Gabriel's charges with a curling shot into a net guarded only by a few players, after Maova was left on the ground from a long ball in the box.
Arrows tried to get back into the game but Richards Bay held on to only their second victory of the season.
