PSL coach: I don't know if my job is safe

Marumo Gallants head coach Dan Malesela has addressed speculation regarding his potential departure from the club, who appointed a new technical team member this week.

The Bloemfontein-based outfit recently announced that Malesela is on special leave due to "family issues".

There are rumors within the club management that they are not entirely satisfied with the team's performance so far this season, prompting them to bring in former Casric Stars coach Sundra Govinder.

According to the club, Govinder will collaborate closely with Duncan Lechesa during Malesela's absence.

So far this term, the Bahlabane Ba Ntwa have secured only three wins out of nine league matches.

Their recent 1-0 loss to Polokwane City on Sunday is believed to have further jeopardized Malesela's position at the top-flight returnees.

In an interview with KickOff.com, it was evident that Govinder's appointment did not come at the head coach's recommendation.

Malesela stated, "Yes, there are some personal matters I'm attending to at home. It's about other things."

When asked if he felt his job was secure, the man popularly known as 'Dan Dance' admitted he was uncertain.

"Right now, I don't know if my job is safe or what the situation is because there is a new coach I haven't met yet. I really don't have that information."

He also clarified that he did not recommend Govinder to the club, saying, "No, not really."

Gallants are next in action against Orlando Pirates on Christmas Eve at Orlando Stadium.
