The former Orlando Pirates striker trained with Durban City in the Motsepe Foundation Championship during the off-season but could not secure a contract.
The striker is now touted as a good replacement for Thabang Sibanyoni, who left University of Pretoria to link up with Richards Bay FC at the beginning of this season.
"He is a little bit behind in terms of his fitness. You can see he has not been active for a very long time since his time at Durban City," Motaung tells KickOff.com.
