Davids' Simba SC will kick off 2025 on top of the standings with 40 points from 15 games, maintaining their slender advantage over their fierce rivals.

The Msimbazi Reds secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Singida Black Stars on Saturday, courtesy of Jean Othos Baleke's decisive goal.

Despite the win, Davids called for improvement from his charges, highlighting the need for better execution in upcoming fixtures.

"I am happy with the effort and the three points, but we still have work to do," Davids remarked per Daily News.

"The league is very competitive, and we must keep improving as we head into the second half of the season."

Meanwhile, Sead Ramovic's Young Africans SC (Yanga) are hot on Simba's heels, sitting just one point behind their rivals in second place with 39.

Yanga closed out 2024 in style with a dominant 4-0 victory over JKT Tanzania on Friday, powered by a brace from Pacome Zouzoua and goals from Kennedy Musonda and Stephane Aziz Ki.
