Burnley coach: Why Foster isn't starting

Burnley manager Scott Parker has explained why Lyle Foster has not been starting since making his return for the Clarets.

The Bafana Bafana international has been a second-half substitute in Burnley's last three games in the Championship since returning from injury.

Foster had been out of action since picking up an injury during a Africa Cup of Nations qualify in October last year.

Parker has now revealed they are taking their time with easing the former Orlando Pirates striker back into the team.

"Lyle has been out for some time, so we need to tread carefully," Parker said about the striker, as per the Burnley Express.

"He's getting some good training into him, albeit not as much as we'd like just because of the sheer volume of games and training has been reduced because of that.

"But Lyle is in a good place, and we're going to need him along with all the other boys."

Meanwhile, Burnley have bolstered their squad with the signing of former Clarets striker Ashley Barns on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

The Clarets will be back in action on Saturday afternoon against local rivals Blackburn Rovers, with Foster looking to make it two goals in two games in the derby.
