Mama Joy: I won't go back to Pirates

Royal AM's off-field troubles have deeply affected their number one supporter, Joy Chauke, who has now spoken out about the club's messy affairs.

The KwaZulu-Natal-based club has had its players not report for training since the Christmas holidays due to allegedly not receiving their December salaries.

Known as Mama Joy in domestic football, Chauke has been unable to eat or sleep since the news broke.

She urges the players to return to duty for the sake of the club's image.

Chauke refuted claims that she plans to abandon the troubled Shawn Mkhize-owned outfit for her former favourite team, Orlando Pirates.

"People don't have peace. First of all, we are not in a good space, we are facing difficulties from all corners. But what remains is that I'm still with Thwihli Thwahla," Chauke said, speaking to KickOff.com.

"I won't dare jump ship and run away from the Thwihli Thwahla troubles in their dark days because that's where they need my support the most.

"I didn't start following the club for the money, I wanted change. People might claim the custard is finished at Royal AM, but I won't go back to Pirates. I am still 100% fully committed to Thwihli Thwahla.

"I'm still in MaMkhize's corner, Khabazela kaMavovo, in good times and bad. It's unfortunate what is happening with SARS and whatever else," she continued.

Mama Joy has also expressed gratitude to the PSL for postponing the side's upcoming matches.

"It would have been a disaster for us if we were forced to play while our players are not attending training session. We would obviously lose.

"It's good that the League is showing support for Mamkhize as she navigates the situation with SARS.

"I know the month of December comes with many demands, but I plead with the players to return to training. The MaMkhize I know would not allow any of his players to spend Christmas without money on purpose. Things must be really bad at our club.

"I understand it's hard, everyone needs money. But let's get back on the field and save our team from relegation because there are no guarantees that all of them will find new teams once they leave Royal AM. They need to save their jobs.

"This morning, I couldn't even eat my favourite magwinya. It pains me to see my team trending for such reasons. Some people are happy, they enjoy seeing Mama Joy suffer. But one day is one day. Let's just pray for MaMkhize in this difficult time."
