The South African has slowly fallen out of favour at Al Ahly, and reports of his potential departure have been circulating for several months now.
Therefore, it came as no surprise when it was reported that he could leave Al Ahly in January, with the club also said to be keen on cashing in on the player as his contract expires in June 2025.
Despite being linked with moves to Kaizer Chiefs and Zamalek, Tau's future seems to be in the Middle East, where he was reportedly being courted by the likes of Al-Khor, Al-Gharafa, and Qatar SC.
According to Qatari newspaper Al-Sharq, the Bafana Bafana star has landed in Doha, Qatar, ahead of his transfer to Qatar SC.
The publication claims that the 30-year-old is scheduled to undergo his medical assessment on Saturday, 11 January, at Aspetar Hospital for Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine.
As such, Tau will take no part in Qatar SC's league clash against Al-Duhail on Sunday.
