Arrows coach: How we planned against Chiefs

Golden Arrows co-coach Musa Bilankulu has revealed how they spent a week analyzing and preparing for Sunday's match against Kaizer Chiefs in Durban.

Arrows beat Chiefs 1-0 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium to move into the Top Eight of the Betway Premiership standings.

Captain Gladwin Shitolo scored the decisive goal to secure the victory at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

This was a fifth win for the side in the league so far this season, while it was a fifth loss for their opponents.

Bilankulu terms the maximum points collected as 'three big points' after the match.

"We knew it was not gonna be easy game playing Chiefs where playing them at home and away. It's hostile with the number of fans, the quality of players they have and with the great coach in [Nasreddine] Nabi and his technical team," Bilankulu told journalists in the post-match press conference.

"We have been planning. Fortunately, we had a chance to watch them twice in one week after our game against AmaZulu. They played Cape Town City, we saw their set-up and possible line-up coming to this game. Even against Stellenbosch, the set-up was different.

"We planned for both - whether it's three at the back or four at the back. The team stuck to the tactical plan defensively and offensively," added the former defender-cum-midfielder.

"Finally, I am happy we got that one goal that was coming for a long time because we have been creating chances, but the conversation ratio was low. Today, we told ourselves it doesn't have to look pretty, we have to grind for the results because these three points are big three points from position 10. Staying down the log is very difficult and I believe the boys fought hard today."

Arrows hosts TS Galaxy in their next Betway Premiership match at the Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammarsdale on Saturday.
