Relebohile Mofokeng's opener in the first half was followed up by Thalente Mbatha Mbatha's strike from range in the second half.
The match had a nervy ending, however, as Abdelraouf Benguit found the back of the net in added time to reduce the deficit to just one goal.
The win means the Soweto giants top Group G ahead of their final fixture against second-placed Al Ahly away from home.
Speaking to the club's media after the encounter, fan-favourite Maswanganyi had plenty of praise for his teammates.
"I think we had to make a statement. This is our home, let's show up for the game," the 26-year-old said.
"I'm very happy with everyone in the team. We managed to score two goals. We wanted more, but we are happy with three points.
"We are also happy that we qualified for the next stage. I want to say thank you to the gents for working hard, for pushing. This is what we have to do week in, week out.
"We are here to perform and we are here to give it our all each and every game," continued the man affectionately referred to as 'Tito'.
