African giants 'offer' European star R14.6m in earnings

One of Africa's biggest clubs has reportedly offered to pay a European star $800,000 (R14.6 million) in earnings to secure the signing.

The holders of the CAF Champions League, Al Ahly, are believed to be in search of a new foreign forward following the recent departure of Percy Tau.

The South African's exit means that the Red Devils have room to make a new foreign acquisition, something manager Marcel Koller has reportedly been pushing for since the start of the season.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Al Ahly were considering signing Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho from Sevilla, but no deal came to fruition.

This week, reports emerged that the Egyptian juggernauts were edging closer to completing an agreement to sign Brazilian striker Everton da Silva from Czech club Banik Ostrava, but those reports have also begun to wane.

It is now claimed that Al Ahly are attempting to sign a Slovenian forward, with negotiations said to have already begun between the parties involved.

According to Winwin.com, Al Ahly are in advanced talks to sign centre-forward Nejc Gradisar from Hungarian club Fehervar.

The report claims that the African giants have offered the player a deal worth $800,000 (R14.6 million), while Gradisar's current employers are demanding $1.2 million (R22.1 million) to approve the transfer.

It is also suggested that Al Ahly are quite serious about signing Gradisar, especially after failing to convince Angolan striker Gelson Dala to join the club during the active window.

Gradisar has made 22 appearances so far this season, registering eight goals and four assists, according to Transfermarkt.
