Chippa United booked their spot in the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup with a 2-1 win over Golden Arrows on Saturday afternoon.
Olwethu Ncube and Ntsikelelo Nxadi were restored by the host from their last match, while Chippa brought Stanley Nwabali back in goal and rested veteran midfielder Andile Jali.
The contest took some time to get going with the best chance falling to the visitors where Aphelele Teto found space unmarked on the far side only to go straight at Ismail Watenga.
Chippa continued coming with a low powerful drive from the box by Siphelo Baloni, but Watenga dived across to the near post and palmed him.
Action turned though where former Orlando Pirates man Gladwin Shitolo drew a tremendous point-blank stop from Nwabali with a close-range header.
Managerial pair in Musa Bilankulu and Kagiso Dikgacio decided to effect personnel from the dugout in the form of Sazi Gumbi for Ncube.
Abafana Besthende were keen to hit the ground running earlier on in the half and came close from a low square pass by Nduduzo Sibiya, but Chippa cleared their lines.
The visitors maintained a steady approach all-round and struck the killer blow with 20 minutes to go when Sinoxolo Kwayiba beat Watenga to a corner to head home.
Former Gallants man Brandon Theron brought the host on level terms five minutes apart when his snap shot from a corner rolled over the goal-line despite the visitors best efforts.
Theron would turn villain in the space of a minute as he aided a goal-mouth effort over his goal-line and saw Chippa restore advantage.
Arrows immediately threw numbers to the attack in the hope of a drawing level once more, but the Chilli Boys shut the door and entered the last 16.
