Orlando Pirates sealed their spot in the Nedbank Cup Last 16 with a 3-1 victory away to Richards Bay FC on Sunday afternoon.
Melusi Buthelezi, Deano Van Rooyen, Tapelo Xoki, Mohau Nkota and Tshegofatso Mabasa were hauled in by the Buccaneers from their last match.
Pirates were keen to get the ball rolling courtesy of Patrick Maswanganyi, but he was carefully guarded by the low-block the host applied.
Maswanganyi continued being menacing and struck the opener on 20 minutes when he made a short run-up to rifle into the top corner after being teed up by Nkota.
The Pirates playmaker bagged his second goal six minutes later after coming inside through his incisive patterns and calmly finished off.
Pirates' advantage came under threat when a ball across the area released Thato Mohlamme for a first-time strike that clattered the frame of the woodwork.
After a slow first half, the lead got reduced a minute into the second period when Yanela Mbuthuma charged onto a loose ball following a spill by Buthelezi and tapped in comfortably.
A substitution by the Buccaneers at the same time saw Van Rooyen removed due to a sense of discomfort and had Siyabonga Ndlozi introduced.
No lack of intensity was on show, with the host energised after getting one back as Thabani Gumede's long-range drive stung the gloves of Buthelezi's.
Pirates nearly restored the two-goal cushion through a forward run from deep by Thalente Mbatha, but he was narrowed down by Ian Otieno.
Otieno made himself big again when leaned a shoulder to the near post and prevented Mabasa's powerful left-footed strike from the area.
Mabasa got in though in added time after pulling to the shoulder of the area following a sharp turn and picked out the far corner to round to seal their passage to the next round.
