Holders Orlando Pirates booked their spot in the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup after defeating Baroka FC 3-1 on Saturday evening.
Pirates made only one change from their heavy defeat against Mamelodi Sundowns, as Tshegofatso Mabasa was recalled to lead the attack that also had Relebohile Mofokeng and Patrick Maswanganyi.
The Buccaneers had a bright start in getting the crowd excited but they were not yet threatening in the last third.
However, after 20 minutes, Mofokeng got Pirates' first shot on target after his effort was repelled by goalkeeper Malcolm Jacobs.
The Buccaneers' pressure eventually paid off on the half-hour mark after Mabasa broke the deadlock with a finish in the box from a corner situation.
Jose Riveiro's charges remained on the front foot and Mabasa doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time and got his brace with a strike into the bottom corner after he was assisted by Maswanganyi.
Riveiro's men were threatening to end the game as a contest after Jacobs repelled a shot from Maswanganyi who surged inside the box.
Mabasa eventually extended the lead for Pirates after the hour-mark with a strike into the bottom corner to complete his hat-trick.
The Soweto giants were comfortable midway into the first stanza as they rested Mofokeng and brought on Karim Kimvuidi.
With 15 minutes to go, Sydney Malivha got a consolation goal for Bakgaga with a strike from a free-kick.
The Limpopo side almost pulled another goal back in added time but shot-stopper Sipho Chaine denied Dan Ndhlovu, as the Buccaneers booked their spot in the quarter-finals.
