It is the South African's first trophy since joining the club, and the same can be said for his manager, Laurentiu Reghecampf, who only arrived at Esperance in November 2024.
Reacting to claiming his maiden piece of silverware, the Romanian tactician told Orange Sport: "I'm happy to have won this trophy, but there are many more we want.
"I'm very happy with my team's performance. We'll celebrate today and, starting tomorrow, we'll focus on the next match. Because, in just three days, we have a very difficult match in the championship, with Zarzis.
"I repeat, it's a special trophy for me, because it's the first one since I've been here. But I came to Tunisia to win all the trophies with Espérance."
Meanwhile, Mokwana and Reghecampf could potentially win another trophy this season, as Espérance are four points clear at the top of the Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1 after 19 games so far.
