Cardoso reveals halftime talk before Sundowns comeback

Mamelodi Sundowns, coach Miguel Cardoso has opened up about what he told the players at halftime before their comeback against Marumo Gallants.

The Tshwane giants went behind at halftime through Sede Dion, but Marcelo Allende levelled before Lucas Ribeiro and Iqraam Rayners settled matters in the second period.

"That's fantastic, it means that the teams has the right spirit, it means the team has the capacity to overcome the difficulty the matches can have but anyway I think we made a wonderful first half," Cardoso told SuperSport TV.

Cardoso marvelled at their first half showing this despite going in at the interval behind, and believes the goal from Dion came against the run of play.

"Maybe not the best we made until now, fantastic very high rhythm from the back, very aggressive from the back. Our lines circulating the ball was so aggressive in order to put more numbers in the front.

"And then we suffered a goal only that obviously was well worked by the opponent in the box, but it was completely against the way the game was going. What I said to the boys at halftime was very clear," Cardoso said.

"There's no way to change nothing, just keep going and going. I knew the game today would become emotional and it was important today with that as much as what we could focus on the game the best.

"I think after we scored the first goal, we lost ourselves a bit exactly that anxiety of trying to make the second goal. I also told them the nail could be big but the nail could be stronger to put it in the wood and we did it.

"So, completely out of question it was completely important the merit of the victory, it was interesting to see how we finish but it's becoming too easy to put our players out of the games repeatedly. This is a very significant team and it looked like they are," added the mentor.
