Zwane: I usually protect players, but...

AmaZulu FC co-coach Arthur Zwane has addressed the issue concerning his side's leaky defence as the Durban-based side fell to a 4-2 to against Sekhukhune United on Wednesday.

Usuthu suffered only their second defeat from the last five matches, losing to Sekhukhune at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Four goals from Babina Noko's Andy Boyeli, Keletso Makgalwa and Linda Mntambo (brace) overpowered Etiosa Ighodaro and Elmo Kambindu's two for the visitors.

The result sees AmaZulu slip down to eighth spot on the log.

Worryingly, they have conceded eight goals in the last four matches, a habit that has prompted Zwane to speak out.

"It's a worrying factor for the fact that as a defender you know already, we've been conceding silly goals," Zwane said post-match.

"Then we still come here and concede goals like this. Obviously, it's one thing we need to work on.

"Look at how we conceded goals today, sloppy defending.

"I'm one person that usually protects players, but we can't carry on like this. We can't concede goals like this and expect to be a better team.

"We take responsibility as coaches, but also the players need to come to the party."

AmaZulu have so far conceded 26 goals - the second highest in the league.

They will be aiming to swiftly turn things around against Magesi FC at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
