Gaxa: This Bucs star reminds me of OJ Mabizela

Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs defender Siboniso Gaxa has named one Orlando Pirates star that he believes has what it takes to be a world-class talent.

Gaxa, now 40, has all the credentials of a South African football legend having won four league titles in addition to playing in the 2010 FIFA World Cup and twice in the Africa Cup of Nations.

He's also played alongside some of the greatest names to grace South Africa's pitches.

However, when it comes to modern players, there is one defender that has impressed him above the rest.

Speaking on 947's MSW, Gaxa revealed his admiration of Pirates star Thabiso Sesane and explained why he reminds him of legendary former Bafana defender Mbulelo Mabizela.

"In the beginning [(of the season), they (Pirates) were marvelous to watch. They had a few individuals who were just exceptional and incredible. Your Titos (Patrick Maswanganyi). But the one I really really like is that centre-back.

"Every time I see him, I'm like this is Old John (Mabizela), this is the new, the young Old John. At some point, I played centre-back by the way, so I'm like, I see myself in this man when I was a centre-back.

"Is it Sesane? It's Sesane - he is great to watch. He is the next big thing if he looks after himself and if he takes his career seriously. He is the next big thing not only in South Africa, but in the world," added 'Pa'.

Sesane is currently nursing a lengthy injury after enjoying a brilliant start to the season, where he featured prominently in the heart of defence for the Soweto giants.
