Downs confirm Mothiba latest

Mamelodi Sundowns have given the biggest hint about their plans around Bafana Bafana striker Lebogang Mothiba.

Mothiba last played football with French club Strasbourg in December 2023 and since the expiry of his contract last June has been on a club-hunting mission.

His latest stop has been Sundowns, where he has a conditional contract, which explains why he has been at the club since January after failing to land a deal with Wydad Casablanca.

The 29-year-old was previously in the Tshwane giants' development ranks before his career took on a decade-long stay in France.

There is a view of including him in the FIFA Club World Cup squad.

"Lebo Mothiba is in the last stages of his recovery," says Miguel Cardoso, the Sundowns coach.

"So, he is already integrated into the group, making some work with the group.

"Let us hope he can help us in the future," says Cardoso.
