OFFICIAL: Former Sundowns coach returns...

Golden Arrows have announced the return of coach Manqoba Mngqithi to the club three months after his shocking exit from Mamelodi Sundowns.

In a short video posted on Arrows' social media platforms on Monday, Mngqithi is seen engaging with the players in the club's training ground, with co-coach Musa Bilankulu and other members of the technical team also present.

The straight-talking tactician is expected to take over as head coach in light of the club's recent struggles.

Mngqithi will be all-too familiar with the coastal breeze having cut his teeth at Abafana Bes'thende as far back as 2007, going on to guide the side to a MTN8 final in 2009, where they beat a hapless Ajax Cape Town outfit 6-0.

He returned to the side in 2013 after spells with AmaZulu FC and Chippa United, making the current one his third stint at the club.

In a recent interview with 947's MSW, Mngqithi admitted he had an emotional connection with Arrows.

"I will always be open in assisting Arrows in my life because I still feel indebted to that club because that club made me the person that I am," he said, at the time.

"They gave me an opportunity at a time when no team in South Africa could take that risk. When the team is number 16 on the log and they only have 12 points after 15 matches, they say 'We want you to become the coach, not even an interim coach, to become a head coach of the club because we believe he can save us'...

"That confidence is something that I will forever be indebted to because nobody would ever give away [a] R15 million status (at the time) to a coach that has never coached in the PSL."

Meanwhile, Arrows are in desperate need of rescue with just one win from their last five outings.

Mngqithi may be on the bench against Sundowns on Wednesday at Mpumalanga Stadium.
