Ex-Brazil star Dani Alves is said to be once again facing legal troubles, as a new case has reportedly been lodged against him.
In January 2023, Alves was arrested in Spain for the alleged rape of a young woman at a Barcelona nightclub in December 2022.

The arrest sent shockwaves across the world, as the crime he was accused of was said to have taken place just weeks after Alves had become one of the oldest players to feature at a FIFA World Cup when he made an appearance at the Qatar edition in December 2022 at the age of 39.
In February 2024, Alves was found guilty and sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison and ordered to pay the victim €150,000 (R2.9 million).
After the verdict was handed down, Alves' legal team lodged an appeal and posted a €1 million (R18.4 million) bail for the player, which led to his release in March 2024 pending the outcome of his appeal.
Alves remains out of prison, but he cannot leave Spain due to his passport having been confiscated as per the conditions of his bail.
However, the ex-FC Barcelona player is now being sued by Mexican side Pumas UNAM, the club he was playing for when he was arrested in January 2023.
According to FootAfricaUnited, UNAM has filed a case against Alves at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for a breach of contract.
The Liga MX team is demanding compensation of $5 million (R92 million) in damages, accusing the ex-fullback of wrongful contract termination, breaching clauses, and violating the club's internal regulations.
Alves did not see out his contract with UNAM due to his arrest in Spain on rape charges.
