Chiefs keeper survives the axe

Fiacre Ntwari has survived the international axe despite the difficulties that he has sunk into at Kaizer Chiefs.

Ntwari has been at Chiefs since the beginning of the season after the Soweto giants paid a transfer fee to TS Galaxy for his services.

The 25-year-old started out the campaign as the first choice, but after conceding 11 in seven matches, he was then dropped with Bruce Bvuma having since taken over after a brief spell with Brandon Petersen between the posts.

His last appearance was on November 2, 2024, and he has now surpassed 20 weeks since he last played.

For all these troubles, Ntwari has kept his place in the national team.

Ntwari is reporting for duty on Monday for games against Nigeria and Lesotho.

The Rwandans sit top of Group C, which also features Bafana Bafana, Benin, and Zimbabwe.

Amavubi have a new coach in Adel Amrouche, who has taken over from German gaffer Torsetn Spittler.
