Bafana Bafana secured maximum points on the road with a 2-0 win over Benin in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Tuesday evening.
Coach Hugo Broos named three changes following the win over Lesotho as Bathusi Aubaas, Thalente Mbatha and Thapelo Morena came in, while Teboho Mokoena was left out of the match day squad.
The South Africans struggled to get in-behind and worked the opposite number despite seeing a lot of forward entries through Percy Tau, Lyle Foster and Mbatha.
Foster looked to unlock the host through a smart forward run wide of the area, but failed to find striker-partner Tau before the hosts managed to clear.
The match remained tight throughout the course of the opening spell, and saw the two teams head to the break on a goalless footing.
However, it didn't bother the visitors who got the opening goal eight minutes after the resumption when Foster scooped a low cross from Fawaaz Basadien over the goal-line.
The Squirrels pushed for an instant response, but were unable to penetrate the defensive shape shown through by the South African outfit.
Bafana were effective absorbing the pressure and got moments on the counter-attack through Mudau amongst others, but failed to make it count.
Coach Hugo Broos refreshed personnel a little in the closing stages by bringing on Adams in the place of Tau.
Adams proved impactful six minutes from time and charged onto a delivery by Oswin Appollis in the six-yard box to head firmly into the far corner of the net.
Bafana maintained complete control in the final quarter and walked away with the maximum points to cement top spot in Group C.
