In a statement published on their website on Tuesday, Spurs announced:"We are delighted to announce that Samual Archer has signed his first professional contract with the Club.
"The 18-year-old goalkeeper has captained our Under-18s this season, starting regularly at that level while also stepping up to make his Under-21s debut back in November when he featured against Swindon Town's senior side in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.
"Sam played for hometown club Hertford Town before joining our Academy and last season, during his first year as a full-time scholar with us, enjoyed a successful loan spell at non-league Barton Rovers."
Reacting to the news, Archer took to Instagram to express his delight over the new deal, writing:"Proud day for me and my family to sign my first professional contract. Grateful to God and everyone who has helped me along the way."
This season, Archer has made 14 league appearances for Spurs' U18s and has impressively been handed the captain's armband in eight of those matches, as per Transfermarkt.
The Lilywhites currently sit fourth in the U18 Premier League standings.
Notably, other South Africans who have played for the London club include Steven Pienaar, Mbulelo Mabizela, and Bongani Khumalo.
