Pirates advised to offload fan-favourite

Orlando Pirates have been advised to release fan-favourite Miguel Timm at the end of the current season.

Timm's contract with Pirates ends in June, but the Soweto giants have the option to renew it. The future of the defensive midfielder with the club looks very bleak at the moment, as he continues to struggle for game time.

Last season, Timm made 30 appearances across all competitions, but this season he has not played a single league game.

According to former Pirates player Reason Chiloane, the 33-year-old's time at the Buccaneers is over.

"It's going to be difficult for Timm to play at Pirates now that they have brought back Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo," Chiloane tells KickOff.

"Remember, Timm was always ahead of Ndlondlo before he was sidelined, but now we see Ndlondlo getting a chance ahead of him, which could mean only one thing.

"This indicates that Timm is already out; I don't see him making a comeback, and I don't know what he could do to regain his previous form, considering he was once a key player for the team.

"Perhaps the style of play no longer suits him. The Pirates coach has changed it a bit. Timm is the type of player who likes to pass the ball around, whereas they now need someone like Thalente Mbatha, who adds numbers upfront. Makhene Makhaula is being utilized as a workhorse in the midfield.

"However, Timm's playing style doesn't align with the current needs of the team. He doesn't grind it out; he only excels when he has the ball. Makhaula is a ball-winner, while Timm is a distributor.

"Makhaula and Mbatha complement each other very well, so it's clear that Timm's time at Pirates is done. It would be better for them to release him."
