Al Masry 2-0 Simba SC
Simba SC suffered a 2-0 loss to Sudanese outfit Al Masry in their CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final first-leg on Wednesday evening.
The Tanzanian heavyweights featured experienced duo in Fabrice Ngoma and Abdulrazack Hamza.
Fadlu Davids' chargs did not get off to the ideal start though as the Sudanese boys hit the front in the opening-quarter courtesy of Abderrahim Deghmoum.
Masry made the tie completely safe a minute to full-time when John Okoye Ebuka maintained a level of composure and picked out the back of the net.
ASEC Mimosas 0-1 RS Berkane
Last season's runners-up RS Berkane claimed a 1-0 win over ASEC Mimosas in the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final first-leg on Wednesday.
The Moroccan champions, who cruised through the group stages had Youssef Mehri and Yassine Labhiri in a quest to secure a favourable first-leg outcome.
It worked in their favour albeit late in the second period when Imad Riahi got the decisive effort to separate matters on the day.
The Ivorian giants were dealt more heartache ten minutes before halftime after Kouadiou Ben Koffi earned his marching orders for an indiscretion of sorts.
Berkane could've gone on to add another goal deep in additional time with a spot-kick, but saw it overturned by the pitch-side officiating team.
Nonetheless, it didn't deter the newly-crowned champions of Botola Pro to walk away with the win and carry a healthy advantage into next week's second-leg.
AS Constantine 1-1 USM Alger
USM Alger came from a goal down to hold AS Constantine to a 1-1 draw in the first-leg of their quarter-final showdown.
The home got the opening goal before the half-hour mark courtesy of a telling finish by Mounder Temine.
The visitors got a chance to draw level moments in the second half through a penalty from Mehdi Merghem, but the midfield ace snapped his lines and missed target altogether.
However, the leveller did come inside the closing stages when defender Kevin Mondeko took aim and drilled a telling attempt past the opposite number.
More drama followed though as the visitors ended the match with ten players through Salim Boukhenchouche for a second bookable offence.
