'2000 police officers' to be deployed for Esperance vs Downs

That match, held at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, made headlines for all the wrong reasons, as violent scenes erupted in the stands after the final whistle.

Supporters of Sundowns and Espérance were seen clashing, with the altercations leaving several fans with varying degrees of injury.

Both clubs have since condemned the violence, and CAF are believed to be investigating the incident.

In response, Tunisian authorities are said to be making thorough preparations to prevent any potential unrest when the two sides meet again on Tuesday night.

According to Bilady News, officials from the Tunisian Ministry of the Interior, along with members of the Ben Arous Governorate—where Rades Stadium is located—have begun consultative meetings focused on ensuring safety during the match.

The report indicates that authorities are considering preemptive measures to avoid riots, stampedes, or attempts to disrupt the game.

It is also reported that approximately 2,000 police officers will be deployed to maintain order before, during, and after the match.

Security personnel will also be responsible for safeguarding team buses, match officials, and other CAF representatives throughout the game.
