Official: Cape Town City make coaching appointment

Cape Town City have confirmed the appointment of Muhsin Ertugral as head coach after the exit of Eric Tinkler.

The news comes after the departure of Tinkler on New Year's Eve, in what is believed to be due to a string of unsatisfactory results.

The club has confirmed that Ertugral will come in as Technical Director, and will act in the capacity of head coach until the end the season.

The statement by the club read, in part, "Cape Town City is delighted to announce the appointment of Muhsin Ertugral as Technical Director of the club. Muhsin will step in as head coach until the end of the current season, joining first team coaches Diogo Peral and Lebogang Manyama."

The 56-year-old has extensive PSL experience, managing clubs such as Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Ajax Cape Town, among others, and has also coached teams in Tunisia and Egypt during his career, and most recently spent time with the Turkish national football team.

The Citizens are in 12th position on the Premiership log, with 11 points from 10 games.

Ertugral will hit the ground running as his new side prepares for two massive clashes against Chiefs this weekend and Pirates next week.
