Casric Stars general manager Peter Koutroulis has explained the reasons behind the team signing former Orlando Pirates striker Kermit Erasmus.
The Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit pulled one of the major surprises of the current transfer window period when they unveiled Erasmus as their new player through their social media platforms on Thursday.

The pint-sized star trained with Chippa United before resurfacing at the Mpumalanga-based outfit.
'Romeo' featured for the second-tier side during a friendly match against SuperSport United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium this morning.
Koutroulis believes Erasmus will make a big impact at Casric Stars in their aspirations of winning promotion to the Betway Premiership at the end of the season.
"First and foremost, everyone knows that Kermit is one of the best strikers in the country. He brings quality and experience to the club. We needed someone to put the ball behind the net," Koutroulis tells KickOff.com.
"I did the same with Clinton Larsen last season with Magesi when we brought in Rhulani Manzini. He went on to score crucial goals and helped the team gain promotion to PSL (topflight). With his (Erasmus') quality, I am confident he will help us achieve our dream this season."
Besides playing for the two biggest clubs in South Africa, including Mamelodi Sundowns, Erasmus has also plied his trade in France, Holland, Sweden, and Holland.
Erasmus was reported to be amongst the most-paid players at The Buccaneers Pirates when he rejoined them in September 2022 from Sundowns.

"He is a good person. He is a good player. The boy wants to play football, (money) is the second part of his soccer life. He is hungry to play. We had no difficulty to meet and sign him," added Koutroulis.
Casric Stars are in sixth place on the Motsepe Foundation Championship table and welcome JDR Stars in their next match at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium in Mpumalanga on 1 February.
