Chippa invite Chiefs & Pirates to bid for star

With Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs interested in Chippa United forward Sinoxolo Kwayiba, The Chilli Boys are anticipating his transfer, prompting a bidding war between the two giants.

Chiefs were reportedly contemplating signing Kwayiba in January, as they also held talks with Chippa for the player, desperate to boost their attack.

However, they ended up going for Tashreeq Morris after successful negotiations with SuperSport United, in a swap deal that saw Christian Saile going the other way.

The Naturena-based outfit casting an eye on Kwayiba added to the list of clubs to have shown interest in the Motherwell-born star, including Pirates.

With the PSL season coming to an end in just over three months, Chippa head coach Thabo September has resigned himself to losing Kwayiba to one of the big teams in the off-season.

He says he's confident interest in the Bafana Bafana striker won't affect him, as he actually prefers him to use that arrogance on the pitch.

"I want him to be big-headed in the right way. There's nothing wrong to have the right arrogance, the right attitude. We try to let him loose and control him here and there," September told journalists after their 3-0 defeat to Amakhosi in the Nedbank Cup Last 16.

"For you to move to those bigger teams, you have to perform. I think he did well (against Chiefs), so it's to keep him grounded, to help him because if he's not performing or is injured, all those things play a factor. So, we try to manage him.

"Hopefully he gets bought. You want players to move on. I mean, what's your budget? If I want Sinoxolo to stay in the Eastern Cape, I would be selfish, I would not want the best for the player," he continued.

Kwayiba has been on the fringes of national team selection by head coach Hugo Broos, and his coach believes moving to a bigger club would be progress for those aspirations.

"The best for him is to play for the big teams, the best for him is to play in CAF, the best for him and the national team is to be in those games. So, I want the best for him."
