Serero back in the country, PSL suitor revealed

A former PSL Footballer of the Season is back in the country after nearly 14 years abroad, with a coastal outfit favourites for his signature.

The lucrative nature of the PSL has seen a number of SA players choosing to return to the country, after Kamohelo Mokotjo was signed by Sekhukhune United, while recently, players like Kobamelo Kodisang and Thabo Cele have made switches from Europe to Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs respectively.

Word reaching KickOff.com is that ex-Cape Town Spurs (formerly Ajax Cape Town) attacker Thulani Serero is back in the country with the view of finding a new club after he left Emirati outfit Khor Fakkan.

He is looking to continue with his career with a return to the Betway Premiership, after his contract with Fakkan came to an end in June last year.

The 34-year-old is yet to feature for any club since then, as he has been contemplating his next move.

This website can reveal that the experienced midfielder is currently training with the Cape Town City after the two parties held talks over a potential deal.

'Cream' made his first venture into the Arab world in 2019 after he joined Emirati outfit Al Jazira, where he spent four year before his move to Fakkan, where he played for only one season.

Serero has played before under City interim coach Muhsin Ertugral in the early stages of his career back in 2009 at Ajax Cape Town, before he went on win all top PSL awards in 2010/11 - the Players' Player of the Season, Footballer of the Season and Young Player of the Season.

The big PSL accolades landed the Soweto-born star a move to Ajax Amsterdam the following campaign, where he spent six years, before he joined fellow Dutch side Vitesse.
