Goncalves – who is conversant in English – was most recently with InterClube in the Angolan top league and has previously been head coach of the Mozambican national team.

The 52-year-old has also worked in China, Portugal and Saudi Arabia but is currently in Johannesburg on a pre-season camp with Angolan club InterClube.

His interest is in the Sekhukhune United job that has become open following the departure of Lehlohonolo Seema.

Sekhukhune are considering several options for the job and have already had engagements with Gavin Hunt and Steve Komphela along with several European coaches.

Goncalves has shared his ambitions of working in the PSL.

"It is no secret that South Africa is a country that I take keen interest in.

"I follow the football there and I'm always aware of what is happening," he says.
