With four teams left in the tournament (well... six, after Mamelodi Sundowns v Sekhukhune United quarterfinal clash was postponed) that offers entry to the CAF Confederation Cup for the champions, questions have abounded on how the qualifying scenario will unfold, should Orlando Pirates and Sundowns reach the final.

"For the countries having the right to engage two teams, in case the cup winner and the runner-up cannot engage in the CAF Confederation Cup, the Interclub committee reserves the right to accept another club," the Confederation Cup rules go on.
"In that case, the national league standings should be the priority over the national cup."

Nasreddine Nabi's men, however, will be guaranteed a place in the Confederation Cup for next season if they reach the Nedbank Cup final with Pirates.

Should they reach the final with Siwelele Sa Marumo, they will have to win the cup to automatically qualify for the Confed Cup, before league standings are settled.
Again, a fourth-place finish in the league could reward a PSL club like the Glamour Boys, if Sekhukhune reach the final with Pirates or win the cup against either Gallants and also finish third in the league standings.
