League rules in favour of four players

These involved breach of contract, unpaid salaries and signing on fees for David Fortuin against Jomo Cosmos, and Musa Sishi, Lesley Langa and Maome Jerome against Durban Stars.

The two clubs were given 30 days to pay the players.

Failure to pay the Chief Executive Officer of the PSL will result in the deduction of the money from their monthly grants.

“As the union, we are very happy that the matter has been resolved and the players can now focus on their football careers. This is a lesson to club bosses who think they can unlawfully terminate player’s contract and get away with it,” says Cappy Matutoane, SAFPU’s national organiser who represented the four players.

“Our appeal to club bosses is that they stop treating players as money-making machines and start treating them like human beings,” he added.
